The Bavaria story begins in 1978, when Winfried Herrman, a window manufacturer, and Josef Meltl, a yacht charter agent, decide to join forces to begin constructing boats. Establishing their small company in the north of the Bavarian city, they started one of the most successful businesses in Bavaria. The first years were difficult, but Winfried and Josef understood the needs of the consumer in order to build boats that would satisfy the most demanding yachtsmen.
In 2006 the company was at its peak, producing approximately 3500 sailboats and powerboats and employing 600 people. The following year, the investor Bain Capital bought the company from the founders for around 1.3 billion euros. With the crisis of 2008, he was forced to sell the majority of the shares to Anchorage Advisors and Oaktree Capital Management. This new scenario allowed the company to grow, and it acquired Dufour and Italian Cantiere del Pardo in 2012. This acquisition allowed Bavaria's portfolio to grow, allowing the company to expand into more markets.
Unfortunately, the bankruptcy of the bank affected the company. The value of the company declined considerably and so did ship production. Over the last few years, the growth has been positive but they have never reached the figures achieved in 2010. Currently, with the health crisis, shipbuilding has been affected and the company is trying to stabilise.

All their yachts have the highest quality due to the meticulous attention to detail in the production process. Bavaria's designers and workers have the task of bringing German excellence to every yacht they produce.
