Founded in 1990 by Michael Schmidt, Hanse is a German company based in Greifswald, building pleasure boats such as catamarans, sailboats and yachts. Assembly, equipment and finishing are carried out there. The brand is ranked as the second largest offshore sailing yacht manufacturer in the world. Between 2007 and 2009, the company acquired the Moody brand the Dehler shipyard. IN the 2011, Hanse Yachts was acquired by Aurelius SE. The group then acquired the Sealine and Privilege brands. Today, the brand continues to be recognised for the performance and elegance of its boats. <p> </p> Over the years, there has been an expansion of models. Michael Schmidt, a yacht builder himself, has taken over a former shipyard. He used one of Carl Baier's sailboats to model his first sailboat, the Hanse 291, which was later a success at the Hamburg Boat Show in 1993. The following year, the brand released the Hanse 331, in 1997, the Hanse 291 was launched, a longer, wider with a more spacious interior. Two years later, the Hanse 371 appeared, which showcased a more modern and elegant design. <p> </p> In 2011, the brand launched the Hanse 311 and was named the European Yacht of the Year. The following year, it was the Hanse 411 that was released with great success and then the Hanse 341. The Hanse 300 and 311 models arrived in 2002 and 2003 having a brighter interior. The Hanse 341 model won the first prize for Yacht of the Year, with the Hanse 311 coming in second place in 2003. <p> </p> The following year, the brand launched its Hanse 531, which had a huge debut at the Geneva and Hamburg Motor Show. It was considered to be one of the biggest projects to date and included the interior designed by yacht designer Birgit Schnaase. In 2005, Hanse Yachts claimed six new models: Hanse 315, Hanse 342, Hanse 370, Hanse 400, Hanse 461 and the Hanse 531. In addition to this, they announced that it was now possible to customise their boats. In 2006, the brand launched the Hanse 430 along with the Hanse 400e, which showcased a sportier design. That same year, the group constructed one of the largest yachts in existence, the Hanse 630e. Between 2009 to 2010, the Hanse 375 and Hanse 545 were launched and in 2010, the new Hanse 325 and Hanse 355 models began replacing the Hanse 320 and 350's. <p> </p> In 2011, the group turned to developing more of their technological development and launched the Hanse Smart Lighting Concept, which continued the trend of LED's and offers different lighting sources for much better luminosity. The following year, the Hanse 575 was released, which featured a more comfortable interior, better performance and and a number of customisable options. 2014 saw the release of the Hanse 455 and 2015 was the Hanse 315, which was voted the European Yacht of the Year. <p> </p> In the Family Cruiser category, the Hanse 315 was the first mass produced yacht, which won the previously mentioned award for its modern design, performance and ease of handling and price. The newer Hanse 588 was then released offering a carbon reinforced T-top to limit exterior noise. Along with the top, the cabin was also equipped with a special sound insulation including all pumps and other systems located outside the cab. In 2017, Hanse saw the last big release including the launch of the Hanse 348, Hanse 388, Hanse 418 and the Hanse 548. <p> </p> In the Family Cruiser category, the Hanse 315, the first mass-produced yacht, was also named European Yacht of the Year for its modern design, performance, ease of handling and price. The new Hanse 588 will also have been announced, also featuring a carbon-reinforced T-top to limit annoying noise; the cab is also equipped with special sound insulation, and all pumps and other systems are located outside the cab. Finally, in 2017, HanseYachts will release four new models: the Hanse 348, Hanse 388, Hanse 418 and Hanse 548.
