Great cruising area. We loved tintamare and fourchu. Check in and check out every time we change islands is a waste of time. We decided to do only 2 islands and not go to Anguilla because of that.

Carribean is a beautiful region to sail, with a lot of different cultures and types of islands, which makes every stop another adventure. Furthermore, nature is stunning (saw lots of turtles, some dolphins, and when snorkeling a lot of other underwater life :-D)

Fantastic cruise from St Martin around Anguilla and St Barts. The "Charter Partner" is Moorings, which I didn't recognize when making the booking, and this was our first time chartering with them. Appreciated the professional service and rapid technical support (repair) when there was an issue with the generator onboard. To be honest we've never had the luxury of a boat generator so this was all a bonus to us! Only thing I'd do differently next time is vessel selection. We had a Beneteau 46.3, which I'm now aware puts space and comfort as higher priority than sail handling. All lines were righed to a single pair of electric winches and the jib is self tacking, so there wasn't much available to do in terms of sail trim. Upwind performance is not good and we motored more than we otherwise would have. The boat was listed as having a gennaker for downwind and it did not. All and all though an amazing experience and Moorings is a good company to charter from. Will do it again!

The experiance ways great. We have owned our own catamaran in the past. So the navigation part was easy. But it's always different when you're going to a different country and a different body of waters. The crew was very helpful in giving guidance and direction and the best places to go. We were a family of 11 and the boat had lots of space maybe lacking a little bit in cabinets for food. But we all managed. Thank you.

The highlight of our trip! Will definitely be renting the boat from Emmanuel again next time we are in town! Him and his wife were so kind. Exploring all the islands around SXM on our own was so cool.

We highly recommend Pascal and his Jeanneau 53 for a memorable sailing experience. Pascal went out of his way to accommodate our family, especially my wife, who has MS and struggles with mobility. He made sure she could board easily and access the WC when needed, which made the trip much more enjoyable for us all. The sail to a beautiful anchorage was fantastic, and Pascal even took us on a dinghy ride to a nearby beach. His friendly conversation, despite some language challenges, added to the experience. The Jeanneau 53 is a spacious, well-maintained boat, and the charter price is excellent for a vessel of its size. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would gladly sail with Pascal again!

Everyone at the base was super friendly and helpful. Our original boat had an issue but we were upgraded to a newer boat. Would highly recommend using this base.

We rented a Dufour 46. It was exchanged for a Beneteau 51 with our approval a week before the charter. Then the Beneteau had an issue with its generator, and we were offered a Bali 46 Cat. I didn’t really want the cat because I prefer to sail monos, but everything in life is not perfect. Mechanical things break and you have to roll with it. Dream substituted a new, more expensive boat and as things turned out, it suited us much better than a mono might have: we had two crew members sick enough to go to the hospital. Having the comfortable cat with AC allowed us to rest much better than we would have otherwise. It also sailed well enough. Benoit, the manager was accommodating and gracious. Our generator had an issue and he sent a mechanic to fix it. Again one could not ask for better. All staff at Dream, from the ladies in the office were friendly and polite. We left with a positive impression of Dream Yacht Charter. They are a credit to their industry and their professions.

The boat was clean and meet our expectations. Everything was working. The team was helpful and nice. We asked for more blankets, bathroom baskets and snorkeling gear and they got everything for us. We had all basics for cooking and enough dishes for 8. Pillows were really bad. If you are picky, bring your own. It was really worth it for the price. We had a lot of fun! Will book again.

Overview of Saint Martin

Saint Martin in the Caribbean Sea is a unique and exciting place that’s a must-visit for everyone. Here, tourists get to experience three different cultures. The island is divided into two, St Maarten, which is administered by the Netherlands, and Saint Martin belongs to France. It doesn’t matter who controls the island, there is the unmistakable Caribbean influence that makes the experience all the more interesting.

Plan a long holiday and start your island exploration from Saint Martin as the departure point. There are many places to see and things to do, but the best way to spend your vacation is to hire a boat and discover the region. Words can’t describe the beauty of Saint Martin; the good weather, beautiful beaches, world-class shopping, lively nightlife, delectable cuisines, and a blend of cultures must be experienced to appreciate their qualities.

Renting a boat in Saint Martin

When hiring a boat, swimming, fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and island hopping become essential parts of your itinerary.  With a boat, there are many more fun activities tourists can partake in. On the island, you can choose from a wide variety of boats including catamarans, sailboats, motorboats, or ribs. Depending on what your plan is, whether you want a relaxing cruise or a day of water sports, you will be able to choose a boat that best suits your needs.

For your outing, you will also have the option of hiring a boat with or without a captain. If you are looking to sharpen your sailing skills or want a stress free vacation, yacht charter Saint Martin with a captain and let the captain take you throughout the region.

Weather in Saint Martin

The tropical island of Saint Martin is inviting to tourists all year round. It’s the busiest during the dry season, which is from December to May. The average temperature is around 25 degrees Celsius during the peak season.

The best conditions for sailing are usually from January to April. Make the best use of these four months and enjoy the warm crystalline waters of the Caribbean.

In Saint Martin, the hurricane season starts in June and ends in November. But, the months that cause the most damage to the island’s economy are August and September. The summer – from June to November – also sees thunderstorms and rain.

The flight tickets, accommodation, and boat rentals are expensive and hard to find during the crowded dry season. To get the rentals, hotels, and airline tickets of your choice, plan, and book in advance. Scores of tourists visit the island in January to witness the two-month (January and February) carnival.

How to get into St Martin?

By Air

When arriving in Saint Martin, international flights land in Princess Juliana International Airport. Compared to other major airports in the United States and Europe, the Princess Juliana Airport on the Dutch side of the island is rather small and surrounded by hills. The airport and the nearby Maho Beach are often flocked by aviation enthusiasts who are enthralled by the sight of planes flying just meters above the ground. The airport is one of the busiest in the region. So, while planning your vacation book flight tickets well in advance.

The island has another airport, the L’Esperance Airport, which is a smaller one on the French side that receives private jets, charter flights, and planes from other Caribbean islands.

By Water

Large cruise ships have only one place to dock – Philipsburg. More than a million people reach the island via water every year. The regular stream of tourists arriving by ship makes Philipsburg one of the busiest cities in the Caribbean. On the French side, the Marigot Port can house only a small cruise ship. Both, the Dutch and French, sides have marinas with numerous boats and yachts.

Things to do in St Martin

Beaches, Water Sports, and Yacht Tours: Sunbathing and swimming are two favorite pastimes of the tourists. The island of St Martin has 37 beaches; most of them are crowded during the peak season. The cafes and bars near the beach are popular places to gather. The Mullet Bay and Maho Bay are must-visit for all tourists. Both the Dutch and French sides of the island are influenced by European culture.

Tourists who love fishing and water sports would have a wonderful time on the island. Swimming, fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving are quite popular on both sides of the island. For those who love water sports and marine life, the Orient Bay with its underwater marine reserve is a must-visit.

Sometimes tourists want nothing more than to sunbathe, catch fish, just relax, or party all day long. If this is your plan, you can charter a yacht and spend a week or more on the beautiful waters.

Trying the local cuisine in Saint Martin is a unique experience. Different types of cuisines are available to the tourists, but the most loved ones are local European dishes that are heavily influenced by the Caribbean. Tourists have more than 300 restaurants to satisfy their taste buds.

On land, one of the most common adventures are found by exploring the island by bike. Explore the lush greenery and the beautiful sights and sounds on a Harley Motorbike Tour. If you want, the motorbike tour operators also make available a guide to help you explore the island. There are several motorbike rentals on the island. Tourists can rent a Harley or any other bike at an affordable rate.
