Fountaine Pajot was founded in 1976 by Jean-François Fountaine, Yves Pajot, Daniel Givon and Rémi Tristan. Four friends shared a passion for sailing and a dream of creating their boatyard. With their knowledge in the nautical industry, they joined forces to make their dream come true and create their company. The company was successful since the early years and they were able to acquire more facilities for the construction of 505, 420 and 470 centreboards. In 1983, Fountaine Pajot launched its first innovative model with the cruising catamaran concept.
In the ‘90s Fountaine Pajot was a success in Europe and abroad. The success was due to the expansion of its catalogue with four new multihulls: Bahia 46, Tobago 35, Athena 38 and Marquises 56. The Fountaine Pajot construction process received the ISO 9002 version 1994 certification, which helped Fountaine Pajot to remain a market leader.
In the 2000s, Fountaine Pajot was listed on the Alternext stock exchange, giving the company financial recognition and security. In 2012, the company adopted the Eco Cruising concept into its process, a concept where it would help create boats using renewable energy. The company has grown exponentially to this day and has embraced the catamaran market. Fountaine Pajot employs 300 people and builds between 150 and 200 catamarans, sailing or motor, per year.
