Croatia is considered as one of Europe’s most popular and attractive beach destinations. From acres and acres of vineyards to mighty cliffs, Croatia is gifted with natural beauty. Also, having sun all year-round makes this beautiful European country a popular destination for tourists. Here are some of the best city ports one must stop by when in Croatia. 

Dubrovnik

This breathtaking spot is one of Croatia’s most visited places. Dubrovnik is famously known the “Pearl of the Adriatic” for its magnificent beauty. It is surrounded by imposing sea walls which are overlooked by the majestic Lovrijenac Fortress. 

Here, you will be surrounded by breathtaking beauty. Scenic views will please your eyes as you will be at a vantage point on the cliff. To fully experience this, you can either catch the cable car to Mount Srd or you can take a stroll along the City Walls.

The walk will also take you through Dubrovnik’s old town, which is known for its marble streets, grand churches, and the 16th-century Sponza Palace.

Plitvice Lakes National Park

This is one of Croatia’s most popular National Parks and UNESCO Natural Heritage sites. Plitvice Lakes National Park is a land of 16 interconnected beautiful lakes and streams. It is surrounded by magnificent mountains which overlook the park.

Beautiful lakes, tumbling waterfalls and lush mountains are what you will get at the Plitvice Lakes National Park. Tourists are taking a hike across the park where they can learn about its history and the naturally formed dams while taking in the breathtaking scenery.

Zagorje Region

Zagorje Region lies north of Zagreb to the Slovenian border. It is a historic town dotted with castles, hilltop vineyards, and springs. Makarska

Makarska is set against the craggy peak of Mount Biokovo. It lies mid-way between Dubrovnik and Split. Although a quieter spot than others in Croatia, it still does not fall back on beauty or entertainment. It is a popular cruise spot and is known for its beaches and colorful harbor.

Mljet National Park

Mljet is known for its lush greenery, saltwater lakes, lush pine forests, and deep lagoons. It is located in the south of Croatia but is definitely worth the journey. Tourists can either go kayaking on the lake, bike along the trails, hike up and down the park or take on some adventure by discovering Odysseus’s cave.

Split

This is the city’s major port and almost all cruises and day sailing trips start from Split. Tourists can either hop on a cruise or go for a day trip. Or, they can stay in Split and enjoy water rafting, rock climbing, and sailing activities.

Peljesae Peninsula

This town port is a slim stretch and goes from the mainland to Korcula Island. Peljesae Peninsula is known as one of Croatia’s most popular wine tasting regions. Many popular varieties of wine are produced here, for example, Dingac.

Along with its beauty, it is known for its food like mussels and oysters.

Rovinj

Hike through woodlands, select a sunbathing spot, or explore the island – this quiet place is the beauty of nature itself. The charming town was part of the Venetian Republic. Moreover, it is the place to be if you enjoy outdoor.

Zagreb

It is the capital of Croatia and known for its twisting alleys and huge parklands. You will find the city’s top museums here along with the most famous lakes Jarun and Bundek where you can relax, practice windsurfing or party.

Kornati Islands

Kornati Islands is a colorful place in Croatia. It is known for its tropical fish, uninhibited lands, beautiful reefs, and 89 islands which are part of the Kornati Islands National Park. You can also go scuba diving here, discover small coves and bays or just run into some Dolphins.
