We had an amazing experience with Oscar and his beautiful boat! Oscar was not only a very friendly hospitable skipper, but also a great dolphin spotter!

I don’t typically leave reviews, but I felt I must, after our trip with Oscar. He was a fantastic host and skipper, the boat was beautiful and we were so well catered for, with beers, soft drinks and snacks. We told Oscar we would love to see dolphins and he amazingly had the knowledge to know where to find them, and we had an incredible experience up close with the dolphins. Thank you!

Estepona has great weather all year round, and it actually is the perfect place if you want some sunshine during winter. The temperatures are the warmest in summer in July and August and this is when most tourists visit the town as it is the high season.

If you want to visit Estepona, we strongly suggest you hire a boat during the off season. For instance spring and fall are great times to come as the weather is really good, with very little rainfall and a lot less tourists too.

Do you need a licence to rent a boat in Estepona?

Licence requirements depend on the type of boat as well as the size. Indeed, operating a sailboat will have different requirements from renting a motorboat.

If you decide to hire a motorboat, you need a licence if the engine is more powerful than 15HP or if the vessel is bigger than 4metres in length.

For a sailboat you will need a boating licence if the boat is bigger than 5 metres in length.

If you don’t have the required certificate, you can charter a yacht in Spain with a skipper on board. A skipper will be your captain and will guide you to the best local spots to explore.
