The sharing economy concept has officially spread to boats! Nowadays, companies like SamBoat make peer-to-peer boat rental a reality and allow people who couldn't previously afford leisure boating to experience it.
The peer-to-peer boating industry has become a competitive field. But with a solid base in France, and plans to expand into other popular European territories, Calando, Cargou and co are confident they have what it takes to sail into first place.
Boats available to rent through Samboat include motorboats, sailboats, RIBs, catamarans, canal boat and yachts. Renters can hire boats from as little as €15 per day, right up to the more luxurious options costing €7000 per day. The platform caters for everyone, from those just looking for a chilled out day at sea with friends, for a spot of fishing or island exploration, right through to couples or families wanting a holiday with on-board accommodation, or those requiring a boat for private events, parties or stag and hen dos.
Samboat.com claims to be the leader in peer-to-peer boat rentals and yacht charters online with over 100,000 users globally. It aims to provide an easy-to-use service for both sides, and allows owners of motorboats and yachts to rent them out at a set price per day.
Launched by two French entrepreneurs, a recent start-up called SamBoat is attempting to do for boats what Airbnb has done for private accommodation by connecting owners to rental customers.
