We, 3 adults plus two 12 years old boys) just had wonderful four days sailing holiday with Ricardo. He is very good with kids, boys are super happy with all kinds of activities: paddle board, swimming, fishing, and of course learn how to sail with Ricardo. He also give us very good recommendation for local restaurants, we had an amazing PEKA meal! Boys cannot wait for the next sailing trip!

Rent a boat in Kastela, Croatia or charter a yacht with or without a skipper

Rent a boat in Kastela

Kastela is a municipality in the Dalmatia region of Croatia, composed of 7 coastal villages: Kastel Satfilic, Kastel Novi, Kastel Stari, Kastel Luksic, Kastel Gomilica and Kastel Kambelovac. Each village offers unique places to visit, and yet they are all close enough together to be able to be explored in a day, and make a beautiful hike.

Pricing and info on renting a boat in Kastela

For a day trip, Motorboats in Kastela can be rented for as low as £48.39 a day, however, they average at about £150-£350. Sailboats for the day tend to be more expensive between £300-£600, due to a lack of supply, however, there is a high supply of sailboats for a week's charter, which goes for around £1000-£2000. Motorboats average around the same as sailboats for the week, however, these prices are subject to change depending on the time of year going and the size of the boat.

Boat availability in Kastela

As Croatia is known for its brilliant sailing holidays, there is a high supply of sailboats and motorboats available in Kastela all year round. During the summer months of June to August, you will find the highest temperatures, rising as high as 33 degrees Celsius, and averaging in the high 20s, and low 30s, which makes the summer the most popular time to visit. Sailing season lasts from April to October, so if you would like to avoid the crowds, but would still like the sun, we recommend planning your holiday for the Easter holidays (April).

Do I need a licence to sail in Kastela?

Like the rest of Croatia, if you choose not to hire a skipper for your boat, there must be at least one adult (over 18) who possesses valid nautical and VHF licences and have the original copies on board for checks.

Overview of Kastela

With the history and landscapes of Kastela, there is no lack of places to explore. Being right on the coast makes Kastela a brilliant place to sail and also an easy day trip if you plan on sailing around the different islands of Croatia. With the slightly lower winds, this is a great sailing spot for beginner sailors who want to try their hand at sailing without a skipper. Kastela offers an array of different landmarks and restaurants to visit, with the culture being one of the most unique parts of the villages.

If you are a tv buff, you may want to try out one of the Game of Thrones tours offered, as Kastela was chosen as one of the shooting destinations during the fourth season. If you prefer nature over tv, the Malacka lookout may be more your type; a cross-marked mountain path with magnificent views, which is a starting point for many mountaineering and hiking paths. Alternatively, you may prefer a more relaxed activity, and visit the Castle Vitturi, also known as the town museum, which is rich in history and where exhibitions and shows often take place.

While there is a lot to explore on the island, there is a reason Kastela is known for its boating, with the 7 coastal villages being filled with places to moor and beaches to enjoy. Brac Island offers a host of beaches including pebble beaches, pine-covered ones and finally Zlatni Rat beach, named after its white sand. If you prefer to enjoy the ocean and swim on a beach day, you should try Bacvice, which is a popular swimming area, and a place many locals like to partake in the Croatian ball game of picgin, in the water. If the beach is marked with a blue flag, it means the waters have been reviewed and seen to be pure – high-quality waters and maintained beaches.  For sailing, the marina in Kastela is Marina Kastela, located in Kastel Gomilica.
