A great family day out (2 adults and 3 kids). On holidays in the Medoc we decided to charter Philippe's yacht. We needed the skipper on board as only I had experience on board before. Philippe's English was limited and my 30 year old French was patchy but somehow we muddled through with sign language and google translate to understand each other and have fun in the process. Philippe was very accomodating and engaging, particualrly as he favilitated a trip to a local port to enable us to have lunch. The whole family enjoyed the experince and had great fun at the helm in competition trying to get the fastest spped out of the boat. Here's hoping the experience will encourage my reluctant sailors to get more involved in the sport/activity and possibly even a week long charter in the future.
