Mahon is one of the most beautiful cities of the Balearic Islands. It is quite simply the capital of Menorca but much more in reality. It is located in the east of the island, 50 kilometres from Ciutadella. The city of Mahon offers many places to discover, it hosts the largest natural port in the Mediterranean. In fact, it is more than 6 kilometres long. Menorca has some magical places and the port of Mahon is one of them. Best time to hire a boat in Mahon

The temperature in Mahon is on average around 20°C year round.

On average, the hottest months are July to September and July being the driest month and the coldest months being January to March. The climate is pleasant for a trip to Port Mahon from April to December, but most tourists visit the area during the high season in July and August. 

We strongly suggest that you visit Mahon at different times of the year, not in summer. For instance spring and fall are ideal as the weather is good and there are a lot less travellers on the island.

Do you need a licence to rent a boat in Mahon?

In Mahon, you will need a boating certificate if:

• You rent a boat with more that 15HP or if the length of the vessel is more than 4 metres long

• If you plan on navigating more than 6 miles away from shelter

You will also have to provide a boating or nautical CV to show your previous sailing experiences.

What to do in Mahon

Mahon is an incredible place to hire a boat and explore the beautiful beaches around the shores of Menorca.
