Ignacio was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Clear communication from day 1, incredibly accommodating whilst we were on the boat. He is very safe, and very knowledgeable. The boat trip was an absolute highlight for us, and I would book again in a heartbeat.

Renting a Boat in Valencia

Valencia is the capital of the Valencian Community in Spain. Currently, it is one of the most populated cities in the country and has become the third most visited city in Spain. Valencia has a long history, with several cultural events that are known globally. The weather in Valencia reflects the mild Mediterranean climate, with an annual temperature of 18.4°C. The great climate along with cal winds make it a great destination for sailing. There is no doubt that it became a must-see sailing destination!

Aside from sailing, the city has always been well known for the diverse offerings it provides. It is rich in unique architecture, many attractions and relaxing beaches.

How much does it cost to hire a boat in Valencia?

The cost of renting a boat in Valencia is determined according to how the demand changes each season. When the demand is high during summer, you can expect to find the highest prices. Outside of this period in spring and early autumn the prices drop a little as there are less tourists in the region. If you plan to charter a yacht in Valencia, expect to pay from around 150€/day for a sailboat and from around 300€/day for a catamaran.

If you’d like to rent a motor boat for a day, the cost depends on the type and size of boat you’d like. We recommend planning your project and the desired activities you’d like to do. For example whether you’d like to go fishing, doing water sports or just sail along the coast and explore hidden beaches. The choice is yours to choose from and we guarantee that you would find the ideal boat for your dream holiday in Valencia!

Boat availability in Valencia

Given the popularity of the region, there is a huge range of boats available to hire. Moreover, the region enjoys an excellent Mediterranean climate that enables tourists to visit from April to October. If you plan to avoid large crowds we recommend visiting Valencia from April to June or from September to October. The sailing conditions are excellent during this time of the year. If you wish to visit the region during the high season in July, August keep in mind that you will find the most tourists then.

If you’d like to charter a yacht we highly recommend booking a few months in advance to guarantee to find the ideal boat. If you prefer to rent a motor boat for a day, it is enough to rent a few weeks before your holiday, but during high season it’s safer a few months before.

Do I need a licence to charter a yacht in Valencia?

If you are planning on renting a boat in Valencia, you need to follow the Spanish regulations about the need of a license. You will be asked to present a valid boating license in two cases. When you rent a motorboat in Valencia, bear in mind that you need a license if the boat has more than 15hp and longer than 4meters. Otherwise, you are free to rent a motor boat without one. If you prefer to rent a sailboat during your holiday in Spain, prepare to have the necessary documents if the boat is more than 5 meters long. Any other case, there is no need to have a valid license.

Don’t worry if you don’t have the mandatory documents for the type of boat you’d like to rent, because there is an option to rent with a skipper. In that case, you can relax and sit back because the skipper will drive the boat. Furthermore, a local skipper can show you around in a way that tourists would normally never see the region. Let’s discover the hidden beaches and secret spots with a local skipper in the Valencian Community!

Overview of Valencia

The Valencian Community is located on the easter coast of Spain. It is an autonomous community of the country located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The capital city of the region is Valencia, that is the third largest city in Spain. Valencia offers plenty of exciting things to do for tourists who visit the city.

In addition to sailing, the traditional Fallas of Valencia are not to be missed in March. If arts and science are your thing, Valencia is definitely a city for you. You have the option to visit the Oceanografic, the largest aquarium in Europe, the Himsferic, for its projections and film screenings, and the Principe Felipe Science Museum and many more. After docking, you can see the city by foot or bike. Pass by the Jardines del Turia, which is one of the largest urban parks in Europe. While in the park, try the horchata, the typical soft drink from Valencia.

Finally, take a hike through the Albufera Natural Park, one of the most prestigious parks in Spain and catch an iconic sunset from Valencia. A boat rental will allow you to discover the jewels of the Costa de Valencia. You'll find everything you are looking for in your Mediterranean holiday: the sea, culture, gastronomy and much more.

Other than Valencia, there are plenty of other cities in the Valencian Community that are highly recommended to visit. Renting a boat is the easiest way to discover the region and explore all the amazing cities and beaches that are there. If you plan a sailing route in the Valencian Community, don’t just visit the Valencian province. If you start sailing south, you'll find incredible smaller cities such as Altea or Alicante. A short sail away, sail your boat to Altea and see the wonderful culture of this destination. After Altea to the south, you'll have the bustling city of Alicante. Departing on your yacht charter from Alicante is very popular for Spain as you'll see it's nautical culture and  busy port. If you're chartering for a week from Alicante or Valencia, then you can venture out as far as Ibiza. A motorboat rental to Ibiza would be the perfect itinerary for your holiday.

If you rent a boat in Denia you can sail to Javea, to Denia and then get to Valencia. This itinerary is great for exploring the area!
