A Haven for Aspiring Literary

Altea is a small Spanish town, nestled on the province of Alicante on the Costa Blanca, harboring 13,500 inhabitants. The name Altea is a derivative of Moorish Althea, meaning good health to all. It has long been an attractive spot for art enthusiasts.

Nestled between Albir and Calpe with the unmistakable landmark of blue and white domed church lies the stunningly beautiful town called Altea, which houses a cornucopia of delights for its tourists. Though just 10 minutes out, Altea feels like a millennium away from the sprawling metropolis, Benidorm when it comes to offering that tranquility that one so desperately seeks when vacationing. Altea is world renowned for two of its main attractions; the beach and the old town.

Like every other tourist attractive city, Altea has an old town as well, which is extremely well preserved and untouched by modern times. Once there you can enjoy long walks in the cobbled streets and gaze at the antique houses painted white and blue mostly. For a more cultural vibe, one can visit the historical attractions like Plaza de la Iglesia or the church more commonly known as “Our Lady of Solace.”

As mentioned before, most of the town is painted white and blue, but if you are someone who thrives in and enjoys colorful surroundings, Altea will still not disappoint you. The tranquil environment takes a break during the first week of August, and if you have happened to be there to witness the lively and colorful nightlife of Altea, you'll be counting the days till you can go back and live through it all over again. It is an annual tradition in Altea that its citizens celebrate the auspicious event called “Castel de l’Olla” on the second Saturday of August. It is a firework festival held in honor of San Lorenzo.

Boat Rentals in Altea

The coast of Altea has more than 5 km of beaches, and even though one of the primary sources of income for the city is tourism, the historical artifacts and the natural beauty of the beaches are still somehow untouched by the presence of mankind. During the summer the weather is not perfect 24/7, but the peace of mind can be guaranteed for the solitude-seeking souls. The beaches are brimming with stalls, bars, and small cafes for refreshments.

A few kilometers out of Altea, one can find the one of a kind harbor where one can view the jaw-dropping Mediterranean, snuggled in the perfect spot of Costa Blanca. It oozes the feeling of being iconic yet contemporary while being unique. It is a man-made spot, designed uniquely to satisfy its visitor’s needs while being careful of their comforts as well.

The beaches of Altea, though fresh and benign, are filled with gravels. The local town council has tried to upgrade the beach by adding sand in an attempt to create sandy beaches.

There is something extremely amorous and picturesque about sailing silently in silent waters in a sleek catamaran on a calm and sunny day. There is an extremely famous five-hour cruise around Altea where one can observe the beautiful blue and white tiled dome of the famous historic church surrounded by the white castles and buildings. So, for your next trip, make sure to hire a boat in Altea!

Altea houses spectacular little natural coves, clean beaches, and steep cliffs. Just hire a boat, and as soon as the anchor drops and you get a chance to jump off on the beach, a quiet swim and a nice and warm meal is a must before heading back to the port.
