DER GEISELTALSEE:
Mit 18,4 km² ist der Geiseltalsee der größte künstliche See Deutschlands. Nachdem im Jahr 1993 der Betrieb im Tagebau Geiseltal eingestellt wurde und umfangreiche Erd- und Sanierungsarbeiten abgeschlossen waren, begann im Jahre 2003 die Flutung des Sees. Seit dem Jahr 2011 ist der See vollständig geflutet.
