The area were you can sail is small enough to fully explore in one day, and is very beautiful with multiple swimming/snorkeling spots.

Zakynthos is generally very crowded, including the bays where you can stop...people squeeze into every little gap.

Got to marina with no problems - using google maps as suggested by Redon. Its a bit off the beaten track otherwise. We were met by Remy who showed us the boat and ran over the equipment before taking 2 of us on a induction run. Then we picked up remaing 4 and set off. The on-board GPS was not working but Remy set up a shared app so that he knew where we were and we knew as well (need a charged phone). The boat was comfortable and clean and easily took us 6 adults. The 60hp engine was fine. The trip up to the blue caves was easy and we stopped for coffee on the way. Carried on around to the west coast for Shipwreck beach (still closed to landings and swimming) but a bit choppy so stopped in fantastic bay halfway down and had a swim. All in all a great day out and would thoroughly recommend Redon/Remy for this type of outing

Had an amazing day with Captain Thomas’ boat. We didn’t need a skipper as my husband was able to drive the boat, Thomas’ team explained fully how everything works and had a test drive to see how comfortable we felt with the boat. Plenty of space for five people. We were out from 9:30 till around 16:30. Reasonably priced and if we needed to speak to Thomas he replied instantly! The boat was in a great condition and clean. Would recommend 100%

We booked a private boat tour with Thomas in September 2025. First things first: Thomas and the way he handled the tour were very professional and absolutely trustworthy. Of course, we were also concerned, as there are very few reviews, but that's because Thomas opened his own business this year. However, he has years of experience as a skipper and guides us wonderfully through the popular destinations. All in all, an absolute recommendation.

We took a self rental. Raphael gave a superb run through of the boat prior to departure and did not try to overcharge on fuel which I have read is a common occurrence. Would definitely use again

Stellar experience with Ionanna and Ioannes. They are the best captain and first officer crew on Zakynthos. Hospitality and consideration for the requests of the client is top tier! They are a remarkable pair and the boat is in excellent shape! We opted for a full tour of the island. I recommend if you do this you go for an early start if you'd like to stop seaside for lunch. It is a long day but it's about as remarkable as it gets if you want to see the island. The light bites were great and the drinks were readily available! My family had a wonderful time and made some core memories here in Zaknythos, thanks to this charter! I highly recommend!

Captain Spiros is a good man and knows the best spots to go. Overall, we had an amazing time. Only recommendation is to improve your food / snacks... or to bring your own.

The area north from Agios Nikolaos is amazing. We ran out of time a bit toward the end because I needed to catch a plane, but it’s great to spend the day.

Boat rental in Zakynthos

If you are looking to charter a yacht and cruise in the Ionian islands, the island of Zakynthos is one of peculiar wonders due to its location and the landscapes it possesses and makes for perfect sailing holidays. The island is divided by two completely different worlds. One is full of peaks and mountains, the other covered in luscious vegetation. A diverse island with prestigious beaches and dream like scenery is now one of the most desired holiday islands for chartering a yacht. There are some other amazing places nearby, for instance you can hire a boat in Corfu and go explore the reef by snorkelling underwater, or even charter a private yacht in Lefkada and try some watersport activities!

When to sail in Zakynthos?

The Ionian Islands have a peculiar sailing season, but very much the same as the rest of Greece. The season in Zakynthos starts in April and ends in October. During the months from May to September, the wind is usually at Force 2 to 5. Depending on when you would like to travel, keep in mind that August is the busiest month for the island. Flotillas are really popular during this period so the seas will be quite crowded. Because of the calm winds you can find during the season, the waters are recommended for everyone from beginning sailors to the more experienced.

How much does is to cost to hire a boat in Zakynthos?

The price for your boat hire Zante (another name for Zakynthos) will depend on the season and what type of boat you need for your project. Like almost all boat rentals in Greece, The price on average for a yacht charter will be about 450€ a day for a catamaran and 350€ a day for a sailboat. For motorboats, the most common boat you will find will be a smaller boat to give you a quick tour around the island. For these, you will have several options starting from as low as 150 a day.

Boat availability in Zakynthos

As in most of the bustling Greek cities, the boat availability drastically reduces the closer we get to the high season. If you're planning to charter a yacht, you will need to start your search in November or December. This will allow you to plan out your project and ensure you select the right boat for your party. For a day boat hire, the time is a bit shorter with early bookings needed to be done only a few months before.

Do I need a licence to charter a yacht in Zakynthos?

In order to charter a yacht in Greece, you will need to hold a valid license as well as a completed nautical CV. The nautical CV allows the base manager and the port authorities to verify your experience regarding the previous waters you sailed and the type of boats you captained. For motorboats, having a license will depend on the horsepower of the boat. For boats with more than 30hp, a license is obligatory. Anything under the 30hp mark will not require a license, but previous experience is necessary. If you do not feel comfortable captaining your own boat, then you can hire a boat with a local, professional captain. These captains have sailed these waters countless times and know the best areas to navigate to.
