Menorca is a beautiful island with superb anchorages both to the south and north. Be careful with a catamaran on the price of the buoys, we were a little surprised to pay €90 for a buoy facing Colom Island on the East.

Gabriel was such a great host, he took us to some incredible beaches along the North side of the Island. The boat was the perfect size and super clean. Couldn't recommend more for groups to explore the island in a unique way.

We had an excellent experience renting with Lorenzo and Nonius. From the very beginning, Lorenzo was incredibly helpful—not only with the booking process, but also with sharing local knowledge and practical advice, which made a real difference in planning our week. He was also consistently available throughout the trip, supporting us with route decisions and any questions we had about the boat. The boat (a Bavaria 36) was in great shape—clearly very well maintained, with real attention to detail. Everything worked as it should, and she sailed beautifully throughout. We were able to comfortably sail all the way around Menorca, enjoying a fantastic mix of conditions along the way. It was a smooth, reliable, and genuinely enjoyable experience. Would absolutely rent again—highly recommended.

Amazing boat, easily handled 8 adults with space and comfort. Handled large waves with ease where a smaller boat would have been very uncomfortable in larger ocean swell. Very relaxing day on the water in Menorca, highly recommend and worth every dollar! Cant wait to go again!

We had a fantastic day aboard Partagas with Victor! The boat was gorgeous, spacious and clean. Victor took us to lovely swimming spots and gave us awesome recommendations for other beaches to see, and which ones were too touristy and not worth it. All communication beforehand and during the day was quick and clear.

A fantastic day boating with Miki in the north of Menorca. His love for the island and the sea, as well as his deep knowledge of the area, are evident. He took us to coves and areas unknown to most, and we were able to spend much of the time alone, even during peak season!

A fantastic day boating with Toni around the south of Menorca. The boat was impeccable, had plenty of space, and was wonderfully navigated by Toni! We'll be back again.

A fantastic experience with Juan. A very interesting and attentive skipper, and a perfect boat for this type of trip. My daughter had lost a ring at sea, and Juan found it at a depth of 5 meters!

Minorque est une ile magnifique avec des mouillages superbes tant au sud qu'au nord. Attention avec un cata sur le prix des bouées, nous avons été un peu surpris de payer 90 € pour une bouée face à l'Ile Colom sur l'Est.

Rent a Boat in Menorca

Menorca is the northern island of the Spanish Balearic islands located on the Mediterranean Sea with it's capital city of Mahon. Menorca is the most pristine of the Balearic Islands and was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1993 and is the third most populated island after Mallorca and Ibiza. It is a popular holiday destination and serves as a perfect location for a sailing holiday. Explore the hidden gems of Menorca by boat or sail around the Balearic Islands

How much does it cost to charter a boat in Menorca?

Depending on the season and the type of boat you would like to rent, the prices will fluctuate accordingly. If you plan to rent a sailboat in Menorca, you can expect to pay around 200€/day and a little bit more for chartering a catamaran. If you sail outside of the high season, in September and October expect to find better prices as there are less tourists.

For motorboats, it is best to sort by the type of activity you plan to do during your holiday. Due to the wide range of boats and prices, it is best to define your project and then choose accordingly. The huge selection of boats will guarantee that you will find the perfect one for your needs! With this said, motorboats can start as low as around 120€/day.

Boat availability in Menorca

Menorca is very popular among the Balearic islands and could get busy during the high season. It offers plenty of opportunities to rent a boat there, but make sure to book in advance. Menorca is characterised by its typical Mediterranean weather, with hot summers and mild winters. Due to this excellent climate on the island, the main season to rent a sailboat in Menorca falls from April to October corresponding well with Spain’s overall sailing season. One thing to be cautious of is that Menorca has very little protection from the wind and is more exposed to the winds than the rest of the Balearic Islands with the Tramontana from the north.

Do I need a licence to rent a boat in Menorca?

If you are planning on renting a boat in Menorca, make sure to check the requirements for the license before you leave. When renting a boat in Menorca, you will need to have a valid boating license if you rent a motor boat with more than 15hp and more than 4meters in length. When it comes to sailboats a valid license is required when you are renting a boat that is longer than 5meters. Other than these two cases, you can rent a boat in Menorca without a license. However, if you don’t feel confident or you don’t have enough experience, rent a boat with a captain. Let the local captain do the driving and you just enjoy your holiday and the added benefit of them showing you the best places in the area!

Overview of Menorca

Menorca is a popular sailing destination and offers many activities for tourists visiting it.

Hiking and cycling are very interesting activities to discover the island. Many wonderful places in Menorca are not accessible by car, which we recommend this type of activity to really appreciate the untouched Menorcan nature. Menorca is known to be a wild and peaceful island but you can find some atmosphere if you need a little bit of movement. For a relaxing holiday you can rent a boat in Mahon, Menorca's capital town.

In Ciutadella, don't hesitate to go to the end of the beautiful harbour and have a cocktail on the terraces of the bars. On Thursdays you can go to Cala en Porter for a great foam party. One of the great passions present in Menorca is horses. If you like horses, you should discover the beautiful Minorcan horse race and attend a horse race at the Mahon or Ciudadela racetracks.

Don't forget that the best thing about Minorca is its nature and its wonderful coves with waters so turquoise that it seems that the boats are flying when they are anchored. The best option for this is to rent a boat in Menorca that is either a motor boat or a sailing boat.  Sailing from Mallorca, you will have the opportunity to discover the Minorcan coves, and if you have to choose one, we recommend you set cruise for Cala Macarella and Macarelleta, around 15km from Ciudadela. In the north, don't miss Cala Pregonda with its reddish sand and steep rocks. As you are in the north of the island, come to the S'Albufera des Grau Natural Park and admire the views from the Faváritx lighthouse. If you are looking for the nightlife center of Spain, charter to Ibiza and see why this city is world renowned.

And to finish your cruise, you can sail to Formentera and discover the smallest island in the Balearic archipelago.

Practical information about hiring a boat in Menorca

The island of Menorca is very easily accessible as it has an international airport, landing at Mahon. If you wish to reach the island other than by plane, there are multiple ferry rides from the Spanish mainland or from the other Balearic islands. There are two main ports: Mahon, which is the second largest natural port in Europe and Ciutadella in the west of the island. Their schedule is more frequent during the high season.  Rent a boat in Formentera and discover their beaches.
