Beautiful trip on the South of France. Very romantic. The boat was perfect and easy to drive. Highly recommend for people looking to explore the coast of France with autonomy to get away from the masses.

Marc and Valerie were amazing!! Their boat was immaculately clean and they were sooo extremely sweet and accommodating. The pricing that they offer for the amount of time of the rental is better than anything else we could find on any website. They had lots of fun toys/equipment for us to use and made sure we had everything we wanted for our day on the water! Even when we wanted cocktails in the middle of the water, they called over a bar boat. Don’t think twice!!! Definitely book this boat for a beautiful day out on the ocean :)

My group had an amazing day on the Saona with Captain Lucas! The boat was beautiful and we had a perfect day trip to and from St Tropez. Captain Lucas was responsive + communicative with us before & during our trip and everything was smooth in the coordination. I would definitely sail again with him and highly recommend it!

Our day aboard Jasper's catamaran in Cannes was so fun. He is knowledgeable, and incredibly personal from start to finish. He tailored the itinerary to our preferences, guided us to stunning swimming spots around the Lérins Islands, and ensured we had a relaxed, seamless day on the water. His confidence navigating the coastline allowed us to simply unwind and enjoy the beauty of the French Riviera. The boat was clean and he even helped with catering suggestions. If you're looking for a memorable day at sea with a captain who prioritizes both safety and hospitality, I couldn't recommend Jasper more. It was one of the highlights of our time in Cannes, and we would absolutely book again.

Lots of boats in the channel between the Lerins Islands, but the area was calm and pleasant. Easy mooring. Be careful of the no-anchor areas, in which case you have to moor at the chests for free.
Beaucoup de bateaux dans le chenal entre les îles de Lerins, pour autant la zone était calme et agréable. Amarage facile. Attention aux zones d’ancrage interdit auquel cas il faut s’amarrer aux coffres gratuitement.

The Lerins Islands are very good, and the Esterel coves too. Be careful with the opening times though, it can quickly become a bit crowded (like everywhere on the coast though)
Les îles de Lerins sont très bien, et les calanques d’Esterel aussi. Gare cependant aux horaires, cela peut vite devenir un peu rempli (comme partout sur la côte cependant)

Renting a Boat in Cannes

Known for its famous events, Cannes is also famous for its incredible coast and for its sailing culture. For most sailors, departing from Cannes will give you the best access to sail the French Riviera. With the proximity to other bustiling ports, Cannes has always been one of the most popular ports in the world.

After getting to know the beautiful city by land, be sure to rent a boat and see the amazing coast of the Cote d'Azur. From Cannes, you can either charter for a week or you can simply rent a motorboat for the day and explore the region. Take a day trip and head north or south and explore Cannes surroundings. Because the areas are so close, you will see plenty of sailors that rented a boat in Nice and headed south to see the rest of the French Riviera and Cannes. Rent a sailboat in Cannes and explore all the coast.

Pricing and Information

As in all of France, the French Riviera's high season is typically starting from early May to mid-September. In addition to the high season, there are several regional events that can cause a spike in the amount of tourists. For yacht charters in Cannes, we recommend booking well in advance. Due to the luxury of the area, prices will be a bit higher than most other areas during this season. On average, you can expect to pay around 450€ per day for a catamaran rental in Cannes and 250€ per day for a sailboat. For motorboats, the range is very wide depending on your needs. The inventory in Cannes ranges from luxury yachts to fishing boats, so it is recommended to sort by the type of activity you will partake in. Motor boats start around 150€ per day and it will depend on what your specific project is, how many passengers and how far you would like to go. Speed boat rentals in Cannes are also available if you want to partake in sports or simply go a little faster.

Do you need a license to rent a boat in Cannes?

Depending on what type of boat you are hiring, you will have different pieces of legislation. For sailboats and catamarans, France is one of the few countries where no license is needed. Even though no license is needed, you will have to show a nautical CV showing previous experience detailing the boats you've captained and the waters you've sailed. For catamarans, base managers and port authorities will want to see previous experience with a similar size boat.

On the other hand, if you are looking to rent a motor boat, a coasta license is required to operate a motor boat with more than 6hp. For canal boats, no license is needed, but again, you will have to prove that you have some previous experience. If you do not have enough experience or want a stress free vacation, most boats come with the option to have a captain. An added advantage of renting a boat with a captain is their knowledge of the local areas. Since most captains are local, they will be able to show you the hidden gems of the area.

Overview of Cannes

The image of Cannes is associated solely with glitz and glamour and although this might be true, the city has something special to offer for a large spectrum of tourists. The turquoise waters mixed with white sandy beaches and the charm of the old town will make you see the city differently and solidify the idea that Cannes is one of the most charming resorts in the world. For more of the French Riviera touch, head further south and take your catamaran charter to Antibes

After you walk along La Croisette and see the luxury and elegance of this old fishing town, charter a yacht and enjoy the abundant sunshine. The sailing conditions in Cannes are ideal with winds that are moderate and waves that are relatively calm. Take in the scenery from the water as you see the beautiful contrast between the distinct architecture and the water. From Cannes, you can easily sail over to the Lérins Islands to experience a completely different scenery. You’ll be met with the fresh scent of pine while exploring unspoiled hidden beaches at Île Sainte-Marguerite.

Cannes is famous in all corners of the world. Its old port is considered as an essential place to sail by sailors.
